Puducherry: Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre at Pondicherry University (PU) has organised a six-day training programme on the integration of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) into higher education curriculum, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The programme, conducted under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, aims to equip faculty members and research scholars with the knowledge and pedagogical strategies required to incorporate IKS into teaching and research.

In his welcome address, Prof. P. G. Arul, Director (in-charge), highlighted the relevance of Indian knowledge traditions in contemporary academia and emphasised the role of educators in preserving the country's intellectual heritage.

Dr. M. Vijayakumar, programme coordinator and librarian, outlined the objectives of the initiative, stressing the importance of interdisciplinary integration of Indian Knowledge Systems into curriculum design and academic research.

Dr. Kanapala Kumar, observer from the Department of Translation at National Sanskrit University, commended the university's efforts in promoting IKS-based academic initiatives.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu, in his presidential address, said integrating IKS into higher education would foster value-based learning and strengthen the national academic ecosystem.

Around 100 faculty members and research scholars from across the country are participating in the programme, which features expert lectures, interactive discussions and practical sessions aimed at facilitating effective incorporation of IKS into teaching and research.

The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. K. Srujana, Assistant Professor at the centre.
