Puducherry: Pondicherry University(PU) on Saturday held a spirited Tiranga Victory March to mark the success of Operation Sindoor, a strategic triumph by the Indian Armed Forces.
The event drew participation from over 2,000 students, faculty, and dignitaries, infusing the campus with patriotic fervour.
The rally was flagged off by Lieutenant Governor and Chief Rector of the University Shri K. Kailashnathan, Puducherry Home and Education Minister Shri A. Namassivayam, MLA Shri P.M.L. Kalyanasundaram, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu.
Starting from the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Administrative Building, the march wound through key parts of the campus.
Students, including NCC cadets and NSS volunteers from the university and affiliated institutions, carried national flags and chanted slogans, saluting the bravery of the Armed Forces. Cultural performances and patriotic songs further added to the celebrations.
Lauding the initiative, Shri Kailashnathan praised the university for aligning with national sentiments and honouring the military's efforts.
The Vice-Chancellor underscored Operation Sindoor's role in enhancing India's defence capabilities and eliminating cross-border threats, while commending the Armed Forces for their unwavering commitment to national security.
Senior university officials, including Registrar Prof. Rajneesh Bhutani, Finance Officer Prof. D. Lazar, and others, actively participated, reiterating the institution's resolve to foster national pride and civic engagement among students.
The march stood as a tribute to India's soldiers and a celebration of unity and patriotism, reinforcing Pondicherry University's role in nation-building.
