Gandhinagar: Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Coast Guard Welfare and Wellness Association (CGWWA), North Western Region, to provide structured mental and behavioural health support for Coast Guard personnel and their families.

The agreement, formalised at RRU's Gandhinagar campus, aims to strengthen psychological resilience, reduce stigma around mental health, and integrate emotional well-being into the operational framework of the Coast Guard. The initiative will be led by RRU's School of Behavioural Sciences and Forensic Investigations (SBSFI), which will conduct regular on-site counselling and training sessions.

The MoU was signed by Dr Jasbirkaur Thadhani, University Dean (I/C), and Mrs Archana Sashi Kumar, President of CGWWA North West. Dr Thadhani said the collaboration would enable experts to provide necessary support to Coast Guard personnel for maintaining a “fresh and healthy mind.”

The partnership also envisions joint research projects, skill development programmes, and family welfare activities. Training in stress management, resilience building, and personal development will be offered to personnel, while counselling and wellness services will be extended to their families.

Following the signing, officials from RRU, ICG, and CGWWA discussed the roadmap for implementing the initiatives. A guided tour of RRU's facilities, including SBSFI, the School of Physical Education and Sports, and the Atal Incubation Centre, was also organised.

The move underscores a shared commitment to improving the mental well-being of those serving in maritime security roles.
