New Delhi: A Delhi University teachers' body on Friday objected to recent changes in the B.Sc. (Hons) Physics curriculum, alleging that the decision was rushed, disruptive and taken without adequate consultation.

In a letter to Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh, the Democratic Teachers' Front (DTF) said a notification issued on January 12 introduced major curriculum changes midway through the academic year, affecting teaching across 25 colleges offering the programme. University officials declined to comment.

According to the DTF, the notification altered credit structures and lecture-practical ratios of core papers with immediate effect. Mathematical Physics-2 was revised from two lectures and two practicals to three lectures and one practical, while Thermal Physics was changed from three lectures and one practical to two lectures and two practicals, with some changes applicable from January 2026.

The teachers said departments had already finalised timetables and laboratory plans in December, which have now been disrupted. They termed the decoupling of credit redistribution from syllabus revision a serious academic flaw and warned that selective implementation across batches could complicate examinations and assessment.
