Chennai: Private candidates appearing for the 2026-27 SSLC public examination directly for the first time, and those who had appeared under the old syllabus before 2012 and failed in Science, can register for science practical training from September 15 to 30, excluding Sundays and government holidays.

Candidates must register in person at the respective District Educational Officer (Secondary) offices by paying Rs.125. The application form can be downloaded from the Directorate of Government Examinations website. The registration is only for practical training.

Candidates will be allotted schools for the practical training and must maintain 80 per cent attendance to be eligible for the Science practical examination. After training, they must obtain an acknowledgement from the DEO office. When applications are invited for the theory examination, they must register online at the designated Nodal Centre, submitting the required acknowledgement and, where applicable, copies of earlier mark certificates.

The application number provided by the Nodal Centre can be used to download the hall ticket. Only candidates with a hall ticket will be allowed to take the practical examination.
