Madurai: In a unique role-reversal exercise to mark Teachers' Day, Mannar Thirumalai Nayak College's Centre for Business and Advanced Studies at Thiruparankundram saw students take over as professors and faculty step into the role of students.

The programme was presided over by Principal Ramasubbaiah. As part of the exercise, M.Com second-year student Sundaravalli acted as head of the department in place of faculty member Sureshbabu and guided the “student-professors.”

Several students including Thirumalairaja, Pandichelvi, Muthumeena, Angala Eswari, Rishika, Vishalini, Sivagajendran, Subhi K Shadevi, Somasundaram and Prasanna conducted classes in place of their professors — Arputraraj, Geetha Kothai Nachiyar, Devika, Radhika, Balasathiya, Gajapriya, Saimohana, Pandeeswari and Selvamoorthy.

The student-professors prepared and delivered lectures on a range of topics while teachers participated as learners.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Ramasubbaiah said the initiative was intended to strengthen academic bonds between students and faculty, help students appreciate the responsibilities of teaching and encourage creativity in the learning process.
