Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (TAHDCO), in collaboration with a private training partner, has invited applications from Adi Dravidar and Tribal youth for skill development courses in the textile sector, officials said on Friday.

Announcing the initiative, Madurai District Collector P Akash said the available programmes include a four-month Diploma in Textile Industry course and a Certificate course in Textile Painting, Dyeing and Printing.

According to an official release, eligible candidates must belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities, have passed Class 12, be between 18 and 35 years of age, and have an annual family income of less than Rs 3 lakh.

The training will be conducted in Coimbatore, with TAHDCO bearing the hostel expenses of selected candidates.

Upon successful completion of the training, candidates will receive certificates and placement assistance through the training partner, the release said.

Certified candidates are expected to secure employment opportunities in the textile sector with initial monthly salaries ranging between Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000, it added.

The initiative is aimed at enhancing employability among SC and ST youth by equipping them with industry-relevant skills and facilitating access to job opportunities in the textile industry.
