Madurai: Two students from the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Thirumangalam have been selected to participate in the Mission Shakti Satellite development programme.
The school has been actively involved in student satellite initiatives in recent years. During the 2022-23 academic year, its students participated in the AzadiSAT satellite project. Subsequently, 10 students took part in the AzadiSAT-2 programme and visited the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as part of the initiative.
The students also underwent training for the Mission Shakti Satellite project being developed by Space Kidz India. Following the training, two Class XI students, Jameela and Monica, were selected for the programme.
The students will attend a 10-day training programme at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, beginning on August 22.
The selected students were congratulated by Headmistress Aruljothi, Parent-Teacher Association president Jeyaraman, and science teacher Cynthia.
Jeyaraman said Congress MP Manickam Tagore had agreed to bear the students' travel expenses to Delhi and had also assured them of necessary assistance during their stay.
