Chennai: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a directive to all universities to revise their syllabi in line with the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

In a circular released by UGC Secretary Manish Joshi, it was emphasized that the rapid pace of global advancements in technology, ideology, and innovation necessitates an overhaul of the existing education system.

The NEP 2020 introduces significant curriculum changes, promoting a holistic and flexible approach to education that meets the demands of the 21st century.

The policy advocates for a shift from rote learning to conceptual understanding, encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and multi-disciplinary learning.

Universities and affiliated colleges have been instructed to review and revise their courses accordingly and implement the changes immediately to ensure they align with the objectives of the new policy.

The UGC has stressed that the revised curricula should foster experiential, practical learning and prepare students for the evolving world.
