New Delhi: The Ministry of Education (MoE), in collaboration with the Atal Innovation Mission, has launched Viksit Bharat Buildathon-2025, a nationwide innovation movement aimed at engaging students from classes 6 to 12, officials said on Friday.

The Buildathon invites students to form teams, think creatively, and develop ideas and prototypes to solve real-life challenges. Participants will work around four key national themes — Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant systems and solutions), Swadeshi (indigenous ideas and innovation), Vocal for Local (promotion of local products and resources), and Samriddhi (pathways to prosperity and sustainable growth).

Schools, teachers, and students across India have been encouraged to participate actively. “It is not just a competition, but a platform to showcase creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills at national and global levels,” the MoE said in a statement.

Entries will be submitted through photos and videos and evaluated by a national panel of experts. The top student teams will receive awards, along with long-term support such as mentorship, corporate adoption, and resources to strengthen their innovations.

The Buildathon, launched on September 23, will close registrations on October 6. The live Buildathon is scheduled for October 13, and winners will be announced in December.

Calling it a “clarion call” for young innovators, the ministry said the initiative aims to inspire students to “dream big, innovate fearlessly, and contribute to India's journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.”
