New Delhi: The inter-university consortium of IGNOU have developed a few web-based training modules to educate the faculty and staff of state open universities on web-based courses in view of increasing shift towards offering distance education online.

The five-day programme would commence from June 15 onwards and 'seek to give the target resource persons and their staff smart brain-storming session on web-based courses for delivery of instructions,' an IGNOU spokesperson said.

He said the programme assumes significance as distance education universities have been shifting focus towards newer distance education pedagogy on the web 2.0 platform, a software that supports group interaction in distance education.

Learners need not depend on printed material used for teaching web tools. Instead, students in the coming days can use e-learning tools more than the printed text matter.

The web 2.0 services have the potentials to make learning more interactive, personal, social and flexible. It will provide effective interaction and collaboration among learners and teachers, the spokesperson said.
