New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday warned that it may itself appoint the Vice-Chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University in Kerala if the Governor and the state government fail to reach a consensus on the matter.
The observation was made by a bench comprising Justices J B Pardiwala and R Mahadevan Viswanathan during the hearing of a plea related to the delayed VC appointment.
Attorney General R Venkatramani, appearing for the Kerala Governor, submitted that the selection committee had recommended two names, which were accepted by the Governor, but objected to by the state government.
The bench said both sides must resolve the issue amicably, failing which the apex court would be compelled to step in. The matter was adjourned to December 11.
