Sri Sivasakthi Temple is a Hindu temple by the bank of the Ayer Itam River (Sungai Air Itam). It is located along Jalan Ayer Itam, right at the bridge across the river, not far from the confluence with Sungai Air Terjun (Waterfall River), where there are a few more Hindu temples. Sri Sivasakthi is the village temple for the Hindu community living in Kampung Langkawi, a small village with a mixed population of Malays, Indians and Chinese. The temple was originally built as a small shrine around 1930, and has been expanded a few times since then. The distinctive feature of the temple is its onion-shaped dome that is similar to Muslim mosques, except that it is decorated in the Hindu style.
