DR. T. Vijayalakshmi, Visiting Professor sponsored by ICCR, delivered on August 28, 2023, an impressive lecture during her first class on the newly created class on Tamil Culture at the University of Houston.
Ten registered students and one audit student attended the class. The Tamil Culture class is part of the MCL (Modern and Classical Languages) Department in College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS).
Sam Kannappan, President, of Houston Tamil Studies chair (HTSC) welcomed the students. Hon D.C. Manjunath, Consul General of India in Houston, welcomed the students. He told the students that The course would familiarize them with Tamil and Indian culture.
UH Dean Dan O’Connor said the class would help to continue the teaching of Tamil culture well into the future. Dr. Vijayalakshmi thanked everyone for the opportunity to teach at the University.

Radhakrishnan Managing Director, UH Energy, DR. Ramanan Krishnamoorti, Vice President for Energy and Innovation attended the inauguration of Tamil class.
