The Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) was set up in Chennai in 1968 by the Government of India with support from the United Nations Development Programme to develop skilled professionals in plastics engineering and technology.
It was originally called the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology before being renamed a few years ago. CIPET operates under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, offering technical and higher education.
Campuses: Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Bengaluru, Raipur, Jaipur, Patna, and Haryana.

Eligibility: Candidates must have completed 12th standard with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry with at least 45% marks. Admission to the Chennai campus is based on DNEA counselling conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu.
