Most engineering students prioritize job placement as their main objective. To meet these expectations, educational institutions focus on appropriate training and career preparation.

With the rise in popularity of computer-related courses, 70 percent of students secure jobs in IT companies. However, it is essential that educational institutions also provide tailored training and opportunities for students in core engineering fields such as mechanical and civil engineering to help them find job opportunities within their specific sectors.

At our college, we collaborate with Intel to provide training to both professors and students, including Ph.D. candidates, on modern technologies. We offer job opportunities in IT companies that develop new software, and students from non-computer fields receive direct internship training at one industry per semester. This ensures that every student undergoes training in five different professional environments before graduating.

We facilitate job placements in various institutions based on the students' abilities and interests. Our newly established Technology Park, in collaboration with various institutes, offers advanced training. With modern infrastructure, experienced faculty, and skill-specific training, we enhance our students' employability.

Importance of Research:

Currently, 70 percent of undergraduate students aim for immediate employment, while only 20 percent pursue postgraduate courses. To advance in the engineering field, it is crucial to maintain the current number of undergraduate students and simultaneously increase the number of Ph.D. candidates. This will lead to more research, new discoveries, and innovations essential for the country's development.

The government should encourage students to pursue postgraduate education and develop plans to support this goal. In developed countries, employment typically follows the completion of a master's degree.

Our reliance on imported electronics highlights the need for increased domestic productivity. To achieve this, all colleges must engage in research. The government should establish at least four research centers in Tamil Nadu alone to foster this development.
