National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD) is an Indian government agency providing services to persons with multiple disabilities. It was established by Government of India under the aegis of the Department of Disability Affairs within the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment at Chennai.
Objective: To provide need based comprehensive rehabilitation through team approach facilitating inclusion, ensuring empowerment of persons with Multiple Disabilities and their families and by substantiating field based research and development of human resources.
Disciplines: Physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychological intervention, vocational training, and special education.
Significance: The institute is the first of its kind in Asia dedicated exclusively to persons with multiple disabilities.
It offers Short term, Diploma, UG, PG, PG Diploma and MPhil programmes:

Admission: Admission process is carried through a common eligibility test.
Eligibility Criteria: A pass in Higher Secondary Course with PCM / PCB / PCBZ under Science Stream with a Minimum of 50% as and a pass in English subject. (40% for SC/ST/OBC in aggregate)
