Coimbatore: Nineteen government-aided school teachers in the Coimbatore education district are facing financial distress as they have not yet received their salaries.
The district has over 1,500 teachers working in more than 150 aided schools, with salaries typically disbursed on the 31st of every month.
However, this month, salary processing was halted due to delays in the house rent subsidy, leaving several teachers and staff in financial difficulty.
Following complaints, salaries were disbursed to 75% of the schools, but teachers from the remaining 25% are still awaiting payment. According to teachers, over 300 educators from 19 schools remain unpaid. While 65 teachers received their salaries yesterday, many are still struggling due to administrative delays.
Educators have urged authorities to expedite the process and ensure timely salary payments. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that all teachers in the Pollachi Education District have received their salaries.
Repeated attempts to contact District Education Officer Gomathi (Intermediate) for clarification were unsuccessful.
