Chennai: To meet the demand for engineering education, the Tamil Nadu Higher Education Department has initiated online counseling procedures, aiming to fill approximately 2.5 lakh engineering seats in over 450 colleges functioning under the purview of Anna University.

This year's counseling process commenced with online application registration opening on May 6th and concluded yesterday ( 9, June ) at midnight.

With 2.50 lakh individuals successfully registering online, there seems to be a good surge in coming in of applications. Among these, 2.06 lakh applicants have paid the required fees, and 1.78 lakh candidates have completed the important step of uploading their certificates.

In comparison, 2.29 lakh applicants registered last year with 1.55 lakh successfully completing document uploads and participating in the counseling process.

This year marks a notable increase of over 31,000 applicants compared to the previous year. Furthermore, an additional 23,000 individuals have completed the document submission process, indicating an increase in interest to pursue Engineering studies.

The surge in demand has not only impacted government-allotted seats but has also affected management quota seats, leading to quick filling of seats in many colleges.
