Mandi / Hyderabad: A recent survey by the GUESSS Global Research Project reveals that 32.5% of Indian college students are already nascent entrepreneurs, surpassing the global average of 25.7%.
The survey indicates that 14% of students intend to launch businesses immediately after graduation, closely aligning with the global average of 15.7%. Over five years, this entrepreneurial ambition is expected to rise to 31.4% among Indian students.
Led by Dr. Puran Singh from IIT Mandi, the GUESSS India 2023 Report marks the first comprehensive survey on Indian student entrepreneurship.
Conducted from November 2023 to February 2024, it garnered 13,896 responses from higher education institutions across India. The report highlights a positive entrepreneurial climate, with 63% of students accessing university support and 38% engaged in venture creation.
Notably, Indian students displayed the highest entrepreneurial intent globally, scoring an average of 4.6 on a 7-point scale.
The report was launched at ISBAcon 2024 in Hyderabad and emphasizes the need for tailored support to nurture student-led ventures, reflecting the government's commitment to fostering entrepreneurship in the country.
