Chennai: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is hosting the International Conference on Experimental Mechanics 2024 from October 20 to 23.

Co-organized with the Asian Society of Experimental Mechanics (ASEM) and the Indian Society for Applied Mechanics (ISAM), the conference addresses critical topics, including 'Design Validation,' led by Prof. S. Pandian, former Director of ISRO's Satish Dhawan Space Centre.

The experimental approach is vital for validating designs in sectors like ISRO, Defence, and Nuclear industries.

The conference features a session on 'In-situ Measurements' for monitoring structures in challenging terrains, including the Pamban Bridge, presented by Prof. U. Saravanan from IIT Madras.

Inaugurated by Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, the event brings together experts from across the globe, including plenary lectures from renowned figures like Prof. Ghatu Subhash from the University of Florida.

Notably, the conference emphasizes sustainability by utilizing a mobile app for all materials, eliminating the need for printed documents.
