Chennai: With rapid technological advancements, educational institutions, including state universities, private recognized universities, and autonomous colleges, are introducing new courses to equip students with relevant skills.

However, graduates of these courses often face difficulties when applying for government jobs, as their degrees may not be listed as eligible qualifications. This creates uncertainty and discourages students from enrolling in such programs.

To address this, the Higher Education Department periodically evaluates and grants equivalence to such courses through government orders. For instance, B.Sc. Electronics and Computer Science has been declared equivalent to B.Sc. Computer Science in the past.

In line with this practice, a recent government order has now granted equivalent recognition to 36 courses offered by universities and recognized institutions in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
