Chennai: Tamil Nadu's Makkal Thedi Maruthavam scheme is set to reach 2 crore beneficiaries within ten days, announced Ma Subramanian, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, at the CII Medclave 2024 in Chennai.

The Minister highlighted the scheme's success, achieving over 1 crore beneficiaries since its launch.

At the event, themed Healthcare 360: Overcoming Challenges and Unlocking Potential, the Minister presented Lifetime Achievement Honours to Dr. C. Ramansubramanian, Dr. Geetha Haripriya, and Dr. S. Subramanian for their contributions to healthcare. Awards were also given to hospitals excelling in areas like environmental sustainability, digital innovation, patient care, and medical tourism.

Dr. A. Arun Thamburaj, Mission Director of Tamil Nadu's National Health Mission, emphasized the state's commitment to affordable healthcare through technology and public-private partnerships. He highlighted the Tamil Nadu Health Foundation's role in leveraging CSR funds to address healthcare challenges, ensuring transparency, and fostering community health initiatives.

Dr. S. Chandrakumar, Chairman of CII SR Taskforce on Health, acknowledged Tamil Nadu's leadership in healthcare innovation but urged improvements in service integration, insurance access, and cost management.

The conference concluded with discussions on healthcare technology, sustainability, and workforce upskilling, led by Dr. Ilankumaran Kaliamoorthy, CEO of Dr. Rela Institute.
