Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has reopened applications for the post of Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Food Commission.

The position has been vacant since February 2023 following the retirement of Vasuki, the previous chairperson. Despite an initial call for applications in January last year, no appointment was made, even though several candidates applied.

In July 2023, a fresh notification was issued for the Chairman and Commission Member posts. However, the process was later canceled. Now, a revised notification has been released to attract a broader pool of candidates.

Officials from the Food Department clarified that the earlier notification received only a limited number of applications, prompting the government to reissue the call to ensure wider participation.

Interested and eligible candidates are encouraged to apply and seize the opportunity to contribute to the commission's vital work.
