Chennai: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the results for the highly awaited Class 12 examinations today, on May 13.
Students can access their mark sheets through the official CBSE websites— results.cbse.nic.in and cbseresults.nic.in.
This year, the overall pass percentage stands at 87.98 percent, marking a slight increase of 0.65 percent compared to last year's 87.33 percent.
Notably, CBSE will recognize the top 0.1 percent of students with merit certificates for their outstanding performance.
However, the board has opted not to release a toppers list to discourage unhealthy competition, reiterating its policy of not categorizing students into second or third divisions.
Impressively, more than 24,000 Class 12 students have scored above 95 percent, while over 1.16 lakh students have secured marks above 90 percent.
Continuing the trend from previous years, girls have once again outshone boys, achieving a pass percentage of 91.52 percent, surpassing boys by over 6.40 percent, as boys achieved a pass percentage of 85.12 percent.
Furthermore, this year, transgender students have achieved a pass percentage of 50 percent.
The CBSE Class 12 examinations were conducted from February 15 to April 2 this year, with participation from over 39 lakh students from India and 26 other countries.
In accordance with CBSE's passing criteria, students need to secure a minimum of 33 percent marks in each subject to pass. This translates to at least 23 marks out of 70 in the Class 12 exams.
Last year, over 14 lakh students appeared for the Class 12 exams, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 87.33 percent, with female candidates achieving a pass percentage of 90.68 percent and boys achieving 84.67 percent.
