Chennai: CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC) celebrated its 60th Foundation Day with great fervor at the CSIR Campus in Chennai.

Dr. N. Anandavalli, Director of CSIR-SERC, led the event alongside esteemed guests Dr. Vijay Kumar Saraswat, Hon'ble Member of NITI Aayog, and Dr. S. Gomathinayagam, Former Director General of the National Institute of Wind Energy.

The celebration highlighted CSIR-SERC's pivotal role in shaping India's infrastructure over the past six decades. Dr. Anandavalli underscored the center's focus areas, including structural health monitoring, disaster mitigation, and sustainable materials.

In his address, Dr. Gomathinayagam shed light on emerging trends in energy engineering structures, emphasizing India's ambitious renewable energy targets and the need for innovative technologies.

Dr. Saraswat delivered the Prof. G.S. Ramaswamy Memorial Lecture, stressing the importance of advancing structural engineering methods to meet modern challenges. He highlighted the role of technologies like AI, IoT, and advanced materials in shaping the future of infrastructure.

The event also saw the release of the CSIR-SERC Diamond Jubilee Logo and important publications. Additionally, an MoU was signed with M/s. Pedvak Technologies Pvt. Ltd., focusing on developing advanced protective structures.

The celebration marked a significant milestone in CSIR-SERC's journey of excellence, with a renewed commitment to advancing structural engineering for a sustainable future.
