Chennai: The Department of Economics at the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) is hosting a 10-day national workshop on "Research Methodology and Data Analysis Using Open-Source Software" for PhD and Post-Doctoral Fellows.

The workshop, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, aims to equip scholars with essential data analysis skills for their research projects.

Inaugurated by CUTN Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Krishnan and ICSSR-SRC Honorary Director Prof. B. Sudhakar Reddy, the event was attended by Prof. R. Thirumurugan, Registrar; CA G.R. Giridharan, Finance Officer; Prof. Sulochana Shekhar, Controller of Examinations; Prof. S. Ravi, Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities; and Dr. K. Damodaran, Head of the Economics Department.

In his address, Prof. Krishnan stressed the importance of data accuracy and interdisciplinary approaches in research, while Prof. Reddy spoke on the rising influence of artificial intelligence in social science research and the need for innovative, socially relevant topics.

The workshop, led by Dr. Kappa Kondal and Dr. Kuldeep Singh Nagi, has attracted 30 participants from over 520 applicants across India.
