New Delhi: The Digital Delhi Conclave 2025 (DDC '25), hosted by IIIT-Delhi, concluded with insightful discussions on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and its role in sustainable development.
The event brought together policymakers, academicians, and industry leaders to deliberate on digital governance, inclusivity, and privacy.
Inaugurating the conclave, IIIT-Delhi Director Prof. Ranjan Bose highlighted DPI's transformative impact, citing digital payments and seamless travel experiences. He underscored the need for cross-sector collaboration to address socio-economic disparities while ensuring privacy and inclusivity.
A key session, "Privacy - A Public Concern?", moderated by Naresh Aditya Madhav (Data Protection Officer, Concentrix Corp.), examined India's evolving data protection landscape. Experts, including Prof. Sambuddho (IIIT-Delhi) and Smriti Parsheera (lawyer & digital policy researcher), raised concerns about Aadhaar-related vulnerabilities and the commodification of health data.
Another panel, moderated by Dr. Manohar Kumar (IIIT-Delhi), explored the "public" aspect of DPI. Experts, including Kriti Mittal (eGovernments Foundation) and Prof. Balaji Parthasarathy (IIIT Bangalore), emphasized the need for inclusive digital governance.
A workshop on gender-responsive DPI, led by Sharon Buteau (LEAD, Krea University), highlighted the gender gap in digital adoption, calling for targeted interventions.
The conclave concluded with a fireside chat on GST digitization featuring former IRS officer M.V. Vasudevan, who shared insights on digital transformation in governance.
DDC '25 reaffirmed its role as a platform for advancing discussions on technology-driven sustainability, inclusivity, and policy innovation.
