Chennai: Eminent aerospace scientist Dr. Nambi Narayanan, a prominent figure in India's space research community, delivered an inspiring keynote address at the alumni reunion of the 1963-68 batch of Thiagarajar College of Engineering.
Held at Hotel Ambica Empire in Vadapalani, Chennai, the event marked a historic first for the alumni association, traditionally hosted in Madurai.
Dr. Narayanan, who served as a senior official at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), shared his profound experiences and his association with former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam highlighting the naming of the VIKAS engine in honor of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, a pioneering figure in Indian space research.
His speech also touched on his 30-year legal battle for justice, emphasizing how "failures are always the stepping stones for success."
The reunion, attended by approximately 70 people including alumni, their families, and guests, began with a tribute to four deceased members.
The event was organized by the alumni committee, with Er. Karuppasamy as President, Er. Sankaranarayanan as Secretary, Er. Subhash Chandra Bose as Joint Secretary, and Er. Vanamoorthy as Treasurer.
The day featured a range of activities, including games and competitions, alongside a special address by Dr. Flora Alex of Geri Care Hospital, Chennai.
The gathering allowed old friends to reminisce and celebrate their shared memories, with a promise to reconvene for the next reunion.
