Chennai: FedEx, the world's leading express transportation company, has alerted the public about rising courier scams in India, where fraudsters impersonate FedEx employees, causing financial and emotional distress to victims.
How the Scam Works:
Scammers pose as FedEx representatives, falsely claiming that a parcel linked to the victim contains illegal items.
Victims are then connected to fake law enforcement officials who threaten legal action or digital arrest.
Under pressure, victims are coerced into making immediate payments, after which the fraudsters disappear.
Key Warnings from FedEx:
FedEx never solicits personal information via unsolicited mail, email, or text.
The company has no affiliation with law enforcement agencies and does not act on their behalf.
Be wary of calls claiming to represent courier services or threatening legal action.
Never transfer money in response to threats or suspicious requests.
If scammed, report immediately via the Cyber Crime Helpline (1930) or cybercrime.gov.in.
How to Stay Safe:
Stay Alert: Be cautious of unsolicited messages claiming to be from FedEx.
Verify Before Acting: Confirm any suspicious calls with FedEx's official customer service.
Avoid Hasty Payments: Never share personal details or send money without verification.
Report Fraud: Contact authorities at 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in.
FedEx remains committed to customer safety and urges everyone to stay informed and vigilant against fraud.
