Chennai: School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh announced that in flood-affected districts of Tamil Nadu, where the situation remains critical, half-yearly examinations will be rescheduled for January.

The state has faced severe damage due to the Benjal storm and heavy rains, particularly in coastal and northern regions. Many homes were submerged, and school students' belongings, including textbooks, were destroyed.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, the minister stated, "If the situation in these areas does not improve by December 9, schools have been advised to conduct the half-yearly exams during the first week of January. The decision will rest with the respective school headmasters."

For other districts unaffected by the floods, the exams will go as scheduled from December 9.
