Mandapam: The Mandapam Regional Centre of ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) celebrated its 78th Foundation Day on February 3, 2025, by organizing an 'Open House' for students and the public.

The event was inaugurated by Shri R. John, Principal In-charge, PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mandapam, and Shri Ravichandran, Headmaster, Panchayat Union Primary School, Marakayarpattinam, in the presence of Dr. Vinod K., Principal Scientist & Head, and staff.

Over 1,950 students and 250 visitors from Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, and Virudhunagar explored the Marine Aquarium, Biodiversity Museum, Fish Hatchery, and research facilities. Scientists showcased ongoing research and achievements.

A student-scientist interaction benefited 250 students, raising awareness about marine biodiversity conservation and offering career guidance.

The event provided an engaging platform to promote marine research and conservation among young minds.
