Chennai: The School Education Department has issued a directive for principals of District Teacher Education and Training Institutes (DIET) to adopt government schools and contribute to their educational progress.

Under this initiative, DIET Principals, along with Master Lecturers and Lecturers, are required to adopt two government schools each. This process will be carried out in consultation with their respective District Principal Education Officers.

The officials are expected to visit the adopted schools twice a month to assess key areas such as campus cleanliness and classroom teaching practices. They will also observe and evaluate the teachers' attitudes, their use of teaching tools, and overall instructional effectiveness.

School Education Department Secretary, Madhumati, emphasized that detailed reports on these activities must be submitted to the department to ensure consistent monitoring and improvement.
