Chennai: Prateek Maheshwari, Co-Founder of PhysicsWallah (PW) and Chair of the Indian Edtech Consortium (IEC), welcomed the Union Budget's focus on strengthening education in line with NEP 2020.
Key highlights include the expansion of IITs and the addition of 75,000 medical seats over five years, addressing the gap between NEET applicants and available seats.
The Bharatiya Bhasha Pustak Scheme aims to promote regional language learning, while 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs in government schools will encourage innovation. Broadband connectivity in secondary government schools is set to enhance digital learning, with potential for public-private partnerships in implementation.
Maheshwari also praised the ₹500 crore allocation for a Centre for Excellence in AI for Education, which will drive adaptive and smart learning.
These steps, he noted, will create a future-ready, inclusive, and technology-driven education system in India.
