Pondicherry: Pondicherry University (PU) has issued a clarification in response to recent media allegations that it altered question papers for its exams.

The institution outlined its adherence to the NEP 2020 regulations and explained the adjustments made in light of specific requests from the Department of Higher Education.

Pondicherry University has refuted media claims suggesting that it tampered with question papers for its exams, asserting that the recent changes were in line with the NEP 2020 regulations introduced for all affiliated colleges and University Departments from the 2023-24 academic year.

Under the new policy, Languages and MIL courses are offered only in the 2nd and 4th semesters for U.G. (Hons) (NEP) Programs.

However, responding to a request from the Department of Higher Education, Government of Puducherry, the University provided flexibility, allowing colleges to offer these language courses in all four semesters.

This adjustment led to challenges in setting appropriate question papers due to the differing language subjects selected by various colleges.

To address the issue, the University formed a fact-finding committee. The exams for Tamil-I, Hindi-I, and French-I were rescheduled and successfully conducted on 17th February 2025.

The University has firmly denied any allegations of administrative mismanagement or improper conduct of exams.
