Delhi: The first International Olympic Research Conference, inaugurated by Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya at Rashtriya Raksha University, aims to position India as a global Olympic contender.

This four-day event focuses on strategic planning, sustainability, and collaboration to support India's bid for the 2036 Olympics.

In his address, Dr. Mandaviya stressed the importance of research and innovation, calling them pivotal for national progress. “Without innovation, we cannot lead,” he noted, lauding the university's B-CORE initiative as a symbol of India's transformation.

Highlighting sports as integral to societal well-being, he praised initiatives like Khelo India and Fit India, which aim to build a physically and mentally fit population.

He emphasized India's goal to rank among the top 10 in sports by 2036 and the top 5 by 2047. Dr. Mandaviya noted the role of Olympic research in understanding the event's social and global impact, stressing the importance of sports science in achieving these goals.

The conference features 60 research papers and global experts. IOC President Dr. Thomas Bach underscored the synergy between sports and education, while keynote speaker Lambis Konstantinidis provided a roadmap for India's Olympic ambitions, focusing on sustainability and technical expertise.
The event concludes on January 30.
