Chennai: The Russian Center of Science and Culture in Chennai hosted the final stage of the “Precise Energy-2024” Olympiad from September 4-6, 2024.

This year's event saw a record-breaking 12,000 students from eight Tamil Nadu cities participating in the qualifying rounds.

The top 600 students from 81 institutions advanced to the finals, marking the fourth consecutive year the Olympiad has been held in Chennai.

Competitors were tested across multiple disciplines, including mathematics, physics, and chemistry for university and college students, while schoolchildren undertook a general test in natural sciences.

Notably, the Olympiad introduced team-based engineering challenges, highlighting collaborative problem-solving and innovative thinking.

Nina Dementsova, Head of Communications Division at Atomstroyexport JSC, expressed enthusiasm for the event's success and the talent showcased. Alexander Nakhabov, Deputy Head of Nuclear Physics and Technology at the Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering, praised the advanced skill level of participants, noting some achieved perfect scores.

The winners of “Precise Energy”-2024 include:

School Level: Rohit Sajith, St John's Public School
Mathematics: Sanmay Aanand, Vellore Institute of Technology
Physics: Venkata Teja Yanamala, Hindustan University
Chemistry: Shaun Orlando M, Rajalakshmi Engineering College
Engineering Problem-Solving: Team from Hindustan Institute of Technology & Science
Organized by Atomstroyexport JSC and the “Energy of the Future” non-profit, in collaboration with Russian House in Chennai, MEPhI, and Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Center, the Olympiad aims to promote engineering professions and support talented youth in Tamil Nadu.

Rosatom State Corporation's Engineering Division, a global leader in nuclear industry projects, played a key role, underscoring its commitment to advancing nuclear technology and international cooperation. The Kudankulam NPP, a major project in Tamil Nadu, represents the pinnacle of Russian-Indian technological collaboration, featuring six VVER-1000 reactors and adhering to the latest safety standards.
