Chennai: Investigation intensifies in Anna University student sexual assault case with Special Investigation Team (SIT) digging deeper into the statements provided by Gnanasekaran and other policemen associated with him.
The Special Investigation Team police have intensified their interrogation of Gnanasekaran, who is currently under arrest for a sexual assault case. Gnanasekaran's reported connections with police personnel, including officers from the Kotturpuram and Abiramapuram police stations, are under scrutiny.
During questioning at the Anna Nagar Deputy Commissioner's office, Gnanasekaran disclosed information about certain policemen and a clerk at the Abiramapuram police station who were allegedly close to him. Following this, the SIT launched an investigation into these police personnel for their possible role in the case.
The team has also uncovered details about Gnanasekaran wearing a police uniform and carrying a walkie-talkie while roaming the Anna University campus. The source of the uniform and other equipment is now under investigation.
Deputy Commissioners Ayman Jamal (Avadi) and Brinda (Salem), both part of the SIT, are set to conduct separate interrogations of Gnanasekaran to gather further insights into the case.
This development has raised questions about the level of police involvement and highlights the need for accountability among law enforcement personnel.
The investigation is ongoing, with more details expected to emerge.
