Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has accused the central government of unfairly withholding ₹2,152 crore in education funds meant for the state, allegedly as a consequence of rejecting the National Education Policy (NEP) and the three-language formula.

Speaking on the issue, Stalin stated that the Centre had diverted these funds to other states, punishing Tamil Nadu for standing by its principles and protecting its distinct education policies. He condemned the move as political vendetta, calling it an unprecedented act in Indian history where a government has stifled a state's development for ideological reasons.

Highlighting Tamil Nadu's commitment to equitable and high-quality education, Stalin reaffirmed that his government would not compromise on its stand against the NEP, which he believes undermines state autonomy and imposes an unsuitable educational model.

He urged the Centre to release the funds rightfully due to Tamil Nadu, emphasizing that education should not be subjected to political maneuvering.

Stalin also assured that the state government would continue its efforts to enhance educational standards despite financial challenges, ensuring that students receive the resources and opportunities they deserve.
