Chennai: School Education Minister Mahesh has warned that strict action will be taken against any failure to investigate sexual complaints in schools.

Addressing reporters, he stated that necessary measures have been advised to ensure smooth conduct of public examinations, avoiding issues like power cuts and transportation disruptions.

This year, a total of 25,57,354 students from Classes 10, 11, and 12 are appearing for the exams, including 12,93,494 girls, 12,14,379 boys, 48,987 private candidates, and 585 prisoners.

The Minister also highlighted discussions on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act during the meeting. He emphasized efforts to create awareness and prevent such complaints. Any sexual complaint should be reported to the head office immediately.

He cautioned against politicizing school safety issues and reiterated that strict action would be taken against those failing to investigate such complaints.
