Chennai: The Tamil Literary Proficiency Test, aimed at enhancing students' literary abilities in the Tamil language, will be conducted on October 19, 2024, drawing inspiration from science and mathematics Olympiads.

In an initiative to bolster the Tamil language skills of school students, the Tamil Literary Proficiency Test for the academic year 2024-2025 has been announced.

The examination will take place on October 19, 2024 (Saturday), offering a unique platform for students to demonstrate their literary prowess.

A total of 1,500 students will be selected based on their performance in the test.

Successful candidates will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs. 1,500 for two years, provided by the School Education Department.

In a move to ensure inclusivity, 50% of the selected students will be from government schools, while the remaining will include students from government-aided and private schools.

The examination will be based on the 10th-grade Tamil syllabus prescribed by the Tamil Nadu government and will be held in all district capitals across the state.

Eligible students from eleventh standard in all recognized schools across Tamil Nadu, including matriculation schools, are invited to apply.

Applications can be downloaded from www.dge.tn.gov.in starting from September 5, 2024, and must be submitted by September 19, 2024.

Students are required to pay an examination fee of Rs. 50, which must be handed over along with the completed application to their respective school principals, revealed the Directorate of Governement Examination, Tamil Nadu.
