Guwahati: A Thai academic delegation aims to make IIT Guwahati the cornerstone of educational and research cooperation between India and Thailand, highlighting Assam's strategic importance.
On October 1, 2024, a high-ranking academic delegation from Thailand, led by Ms. Sasirit Tangulrat, Director General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East, and African Affairs, visited IIT Guwahati to explore avenues for deeper collaboration.
The delegation emphasized the strategic role Assam plays in fostering closer ties between the two nations and expressed hopes for making IIT Guwahati the "main pillar" of their academic partnership with India.
The group, representing over 13 Thai institutions, toured the institute's cutting-edge Central Instruments and Supercomputing Facilities, calling the experience "eye-opening." Discussions focused on potential collaborations in research, academic exchange, and skill development.
Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, highlighted the significance of this visit for advancing joint research initiatives and student exchange programs. He underscored the role of these partnerships in driving innovation and global knowledge exchange.
The visit marks a pivotal step toward strengthening academic ties, as IIT Guwahati continues to expand its global collaborations to enhance education and research opportunities.
