Chennai: The third edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam has commenced with a vibrant cultural exchange, as the first group of students, teachers, and writers from Tamil Nadu arrived in Varanasi.

Organized by the Union Ministry of Education, the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat (One India, Great India).

Upon arrival at Varanasi railway station, the Tamil Nadu delegation was welcomed with a red carpet, Swastika mantras, flowers, and garlands, amid chants of "Welcome to Kashi." Key officials, including Education Ministry Secretary Vineet Joshi, Additional Secretary Shri Sunil Kumar Barnwal, and Director Manmohan Singh, extended their greetings.

Expressing excitement, a student from the delegation said, “This is a unique opportunity to explore the deep-rooted cultural and historical ties between North and South India.” Another participant shared, “Visiting the Maha Kumbh Mela and Ayodhya has been my dream, and I am grateful to the Central Government for making this possible.”

During their four-day visit, the group will explore key landmarks such as the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Annapurna Temple, Namo Ghat, Ramnagar, and Banaras Hindu University (BHU). They will also visit the residence of Tamil poet Subramania Bharathi at Hanuman Ghat.

The itinerary includes participation in the Maha Kumbh Mela, a sacred dip in the Ganges, and a journey to Ayodhya for darshan at the Ram temple before returning to Tamil Nadu.
