The SAT, formerly known as the Scholastic Aptitude Test, is a standardized entrance exam widely used by American colleges and universities for admissions. Administered by the College Board, it is a multiple-choice, computer-based test designed to evaluate a high school student's readiness for college.

Significance of the SAT
Although exams like GRE and GMAT have long been popular in India, the SAT is gaining traction among students. Over 40 Indian universities now accept SAT scores for admissions.
Additionally, the number of Indian students taking the SAT for both domestic and international university admissions is steadily increasing. The transition to a digital format in March 2023 has further contributed to its popularity due to its shorter duration and user-friendly interface.

Scope After SAT
The SAT is a gateway to higher education opportunities in both Indian and foreign universities. Globally, over 1.97 million students from the class of 2024 have taken the SAT, an increase from 1.91 million in the class of 2023. Notably, the SAT score remains valid for five years, offering students flexibility in planning their academic future.

Indian Institutions Accepting SAT
Most Indian institutions accepting SAT scores are private universities, including:

Ashoka University
Azim Premji University
FLAME University
Jagdish Sheth School of Management
KREA University
Manav Rachna
Plaksha University
Shiv Nadar University
Sri Sri University
Srishti School of Art, Design, and Technology
SRM Institute of Science and Technology
Symbiosis Skills and Professional University
World University of Design

Since going digital in 2023, over 9 million SAT-related tests have been conducted online, including 2.7 million SAT tests. However, the test must be taken in-person at designated centers on a laptop or a device provided by College Board.

The upcoming SAT exam dates are as follows:
December 7, 2024 (Registration deadline: November 26, 2024)
March 8, 2025 (Registration deadline: February 21, 2025)
May 3, 2025 (Registration deadline: April 18, 2025)
June 7, 2025 (Registration deadline: May 22, 2025)
