Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday said 100 CBSE-based schools are being established in the state in the first phase. Subject teachers will be appointed, a separate cadre will be created for them, and students in these schools will have a distinct dress code.

During his visit to Mamligh in Solan district, Sukhu announced the upgradation of Mamligh sub-tehsil to a tehsil and the creation of a PWD sub-division. He inaugurated and laid foundation stones for five development projects worth ₹27.43 crore in the Solan constituency, including the ₹16.34 crore Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day Boarding School at Mamligh and a ₹2 crore solar power plant at Kayasu.

He also inaugurated the new ₹8.5 crore building of Industrial Training Institute, Sayri; a forest rest house at Serighat costing ₹59 lakh; and a primary health centre at Basheel.

To empower rural students, Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools are being established in every assembly constituency, he said, adding that construction had begun in Mamligh.

Sukhu criticised the previous BJP government for frequent teacher transfers and opening schools for political gains, claiming his government is focused on improving education quality.

He added that the state is investing ₹3,000 crore in advanced medical technology and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.
