Coimbatore: The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), a non-profit international university based in Bangkok, Thailand, has invited applications from Indian students for postgraduate and research scholarships in various modern disciplines.
Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday as part of the Indo-AIT initiative, AIT representatives highlighted opportunities for Indian students to pursue advanced studies in engineering, climate change, energy, water resources, computer science, and related fields.
Prof. Mohanasundaram (Water Resources), Prof. Chandra Polprasert (Computer Science), Prof. Jai Govind Singh (Climate Research), and Prof. Pranesh (Nanotechnology) said that students from 90 countries study at AIT, which receives over 6,000 applications annually, admitting about 600 students each year. Over 2,000 Indian students have graduated from AIT so far, they added.
The institute offers a wide range of scholarships, including special provisions for Indian students. Research projects at AIT focus on region-specific challenges and sustainable development.
Highlighting collaboration with Tamil Nadu, the professors said the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) is partnering with AIT to promote higher education and research exchange opportunities for students in the State.
An awareness programme on AIT scholarships and student exchange initiatives was held in Coimbatore on Friday, attended by TIDCO Executive Director Shwetha Suman, they said.
