New Delhi: The Ministry of Education will organise the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2025 on Tuesday to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, officials said.

The event, to be held at Bharat Mandapam, will bring together academicians, policymakers, educators, industry leaders and government representatives to review the progress made in implementing the NEP over the past five years.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is scheduled to inaugurate the Samagam.

According to officials, deliberations during ABSS 2025 will focus on enhancing the accessibility, practicality, and skill orientation of education, integrating it seamlessly with employment opportunities to prepare students for a dynamic global economy.

"Special attention will be given to topics such as re-envisioning secondary education to achieve 100 per cent Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) by 2030, promotion of Bharatiya Bhasha, leveraging technology in classrooms, mainstreaming Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), and fostering inclusivity to make learning accessible to all," a senior official said.

In higher education, the NEP 2020 has introduced transformative reforms that promote flexibility, inclusivity, and innovation. The National Credit Framework (NCrF), now adopted by 170 universities, has enabled seamless credit accumulation across academic, skill-based, and experiential learning domains, the official added.

Key areas of discussion will include the use of Indian languages in pedagogy, Anusandhan and the Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF) to nurture academic and industry leadership, the role of Centres of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for transforming education, and strategies to boost enrolment in secondary education.

“The agenda of ABSS 2025 will highlight past achievements and chart the path for the next phase of educational transformation. It will focus on strengthening industry-academic collaboration, expanding digital infrastructure, refining vocational pathways, and embedding sustainability into curricula,” the official said.

“As India's premier education summit, ABSS 2025 will reaffirm the nation's commitment to equity, excellence, and innovation, ensuring the continued impact of NEP 2020 in shaping the country's educational future,” the official added.
