New Delhi: Arts-based education is crucial for nurturing humane, resilient and future-ready learners, especially in an increasingly fragile and technology-driven world, educationist Saloni Sinha has said, highlighting the relevance of India's New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Drawing inspiration from Rabindranath Tagore's vision of holistic education, Sinha said India has a rich legacy of integrating art, culture and learning to develop well-rounded individuals. She noted that NEP 2020 has placed socio-emotional well-being and Indian Knowledge Systems at the centre of education by integrating knowledge, skills and arts into curricula.

According to Sinha, arts-based pedagogies align with global trends, including the World Economic Forum's emphasis on creativity, emotional intelligence and compassion as core skills for 2030. She cited recent OECD studies that stress the importance of appreciating beauty, ethics and purpose alongside cognitive skills.

Sinha expressed hope that initiatives such as the proposed Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill 2025 would further strengthen multidisciplinary and arts-integrated education in higher institutions, enabling learners to navigate complex global challenges with sensitivity and purpose.
