Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday approved the establishment of a school for children with special needs in Miao, Changlang district.

The decision, taken during a cabinet meeting held in Miao, underscores the government's commitment to equity, compassion, and empowerment, a statement from the Chief Minister's Office said.

The proposed institution will serve as a model centre for learning, healthcare, and empowerment, ensuring children with special needs receive equal access to quality education and holistic development opportunities.

The education department has been directed to prepare a detailed proposal for staff creation and infrastructure planning to operationalise the school.

Once completed, the school is expected to become a pioneering model for inclusive education in Arunachal Pradesh, bridging gaps in accessibility and support for differently-abled students, the statement added.
