Chennai: With rapid advancements in automation and India's push towards a $6 trillion economy by 2030, the demand for skilled engineers is expected to surge, experts said at the Vazhikatti - a Dinamalar's career guidance program.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Ramesh Kumar of Amrita University's Mechanical Engineering Department differentiated between science, engineering, and technology. “Science discovers what exists, engineering creates what doesn't, and technology brings discoveries to society,” he noted.

He emphasized the need for core engineering competencies, urging students to strengthen skills in mathematics, logical reasoning, technical expertise, and adaptability to emerging fields like IoT, AI, robotics, 3D printing, and machine learning.

Meanwhile, District Employment Officer Karunakaran stressed the importance of preparing for government job exams. “Many students are unaware of career prospects in TNPSC, UPSC, SSC, Railways, Banking, and Defence. Early preparation, newspaper reading, and English proficiency are key to success,” he advised.

Encouraging perseverance, he said structured training and dedicated effort can help students secure government jobs. Experts reiterated that engineering success stems from a strong foundation, continuous learning, and adaptability to technological advancements.
